South Coast Swing – vintage events and parties in East Sussex

Unless you’ve been living under a rock of some kind for the last few years, then the trend for vintage probably hasn’t escaped your attention. Be it homes and interiors, weddings, parties, christenings, hen dos – you name it, vintage has inspired the theme for it.

The thing about vintage is that it can be incorporated into any celebration in any way – from authentic china tea cups at a wedding breakfast to vintage style hair or make up for a party, there’s a way it can work for everyone. However, organising a vintage themed soiree from start to finish can be a daunting task – not to mention expensive if you’re sourcing everything from scratch. Which is why it helps if you can find a company that does all the hard work for you.

South Coast Swing was started in 2011 by Kitty Hill, who, just as vintage was exploding everywhere, spotted a gap in the market where entertainment was concerned. Her love of vintage styling and entertainment formed the basis for SCS, which offers a whole host of services for anyone planning a unique celebration. Of course, Kitty and her team offer styling services for weddings and events and can cater a vintage afternoon tea with their pop up parlours, but where they really come into their own is with their unique range of entertainment services. Kitty has carefully sourced and selected everything from DJ’s who specialise in playing 1940s swing dance, performers and artists who offer everything from tap dancing and lindy hop lessons through to burlesque performances, ladies and gents who dress to impress and mingle with your guests and even hair and make up artists who specialise in creating a vintage look from any era.

Having known Kitty for well over 10 years now, I can vouch that her passion for SCS is born out of her genuine love and understanding of all things vintage. She lives and breathes it. So much so that she’s currently finalising plans to open her own vintage dress and events space in the Laines at Brighton.

If you’re thinking of planning an event with a difference – whatever it may be – and want some help organising any or all of it, then you can drop Kitty a line here to discuss your requirements in more detail.
